SCHOOL READINESS VAN DRIVER

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Part Time Van Driver for our School Readiness Program, Monday-Friday; three and one half hours per day, 10:00-12:00 and 1:30-3:00. Ideal candidates must meet the physical demands of the position; must be able to lift 50 pounds; and will have prior experience working with small children. Candidate must be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess a High School Diploma, a valid Connecticut Drivers License, and a clean driving record. Employment is contingent upon clean background, DCF and Police checks. Bilingual is a plus but not mandatory. This position follows Waterbury Public School year calendar, which includes holidays, winter and spring recess, and snow days.

TUTORS FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has an opening for Two Tutors in our After School Programs. These are seasonal (2 hours per week each) positions for tutor after-school program participants for 20 weeks during the 2014-15 school year. The ideal candidates will tutor students in Middle School (grades 6-8) and/or High School (grades 9-12), with a focus on Math, the Sciences, and/or Language Arts (English and Reading). Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational and writing skills, time management and computer skills are all required. Bilingual is a plus but not mandatory. Clean DCF, background checks are required. Hourly compensation. These are Grant funded positions.

SCHOOL READINESS BUS/CLASSROOM AIDE

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has an opening for a School Readiness Bus/Classroom Aide within our growing non-profit agency. The candidate must have prior experience working with small children. Bus/classroom aides are responsible for supervision of children during transportation to and from our School Readiness site as well as assisting in the classroom as needed. Candidates must be in good physical health as determined by a current physical examination, which includes a tuberculosis test and must meet the physical demands of the position; must be able to bend, sit, and stand for periods of time; manage stairs; run/walk quickly; must be able to lift 50 pounds. Schedule is Monday-Friday 9:30 -3:00. This position follows the Waterbury Public School year calendar. Candidate must have a High School Diploma. Bilingual is preferred but not mandatory. This is grant funded seasonal position.

DIRECT CARE POSITION

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has opening for a position at our DCF funded Safe Home, a short-term residential home for children. Lead Child Development Specialist Second Shift Saturday-Sunday 2:00 PM-10:00 PM. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and have no less than 2 years experience in the delivery of child welfare services. Experience providing direct services to diverse population who present with challenging behavior preferred, demonstrated ability and competence in supervising staff; knowledge of the cultural, linguistic or experiential backgrounds of the children to be served and multi-lingual capabilities that are relevant to children served. The ideal candidate must meet the physical demands of the position; must be able to bend, sit, and stand for periods of time; manage stairs; run/walk quickly; must be able to lift 50 pounds. Each worker needs to be successfully trained in Physical and Psychological Management Training. Medication Administration Certified, CPR/ First Aid and bilingual a plus. Must pass DCF and Police checks, have a clean motor vehicle record. Hourly Rate is commensurate with experience.

YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER CASE WORKER (PART TIME)

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. is seeking a Case Worker to offer guidance, assistance, and links to service for homeless youth at our Resource Center. This is a part time position three hours per week each Saturday. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in related field and relevant experience in the social service and non-profit field with knowledge of and training in high- risk youth and family issues/needs. Candidates must have experience in needs identification, and a working knowledge of the Waterbury and available area services/resources. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software/computer literate; data collection and report preparation experience a plus. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. Clean DCF, background and motor vehicle checks are required. A valid CT Driver’s License, vehicle and current insurance coverage are required. Bilingual is desirable but not mandatory. This is a grant funded position; hourly rate commensurate with experience.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST PER DIEM

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. has openings for per diem positions all shifts for Direct Care Staff for our Safe Home program. Our Safe Home/Rainbow House is a short-term residential home for abused and/or neglected children ages 6 -13 placed by Department of Children and Families. Direct Care Staff are responsible for the supervision, teaching and care of children in residence. Ideal candidates must meet the physical demands of the position; must be able to bend, sit, and stand for periods of time; manage stairs; run/walk quickly after a child; must be able to lift 50 pounds; have a minimum of two years experience working with children with emotional, social and/or behavioral issues; flexibility with work schedule. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Medication Administration Certified, CPR/ First Aid and bilingual a plus. Must pass DCF and Police checks, have current CT Drivers License, clean driving record and insurance. Hourly Rate, commensurate with experience.
