“ Making A Difference in Children’s Lives”

Picture a matte red drum customized with the major league team of your choice to hold your sports equipment or a black drum with Currier & Ives prints to hold your logs next to your fireplace, these are some of the uses of the product that will be available for purchase through our Youth Entrepreneurial Project.

“Making A Difference in Children’s Lives” began on January 22nd. This exciting project will provide the opportunity for 10 participants to have first hand experience in developing a business. The development of skills in computer technology and hands-on labor skills will be assets for the participants when they seek employment in the future. Recycled steel drums in different sizes will be painted in different styles and available for sale. The larger drums (55 gallon) can be sold to schools and organizations along with a paint kit that will be built by the participants. They will also create customized smaller drums (5 & 6 gallon) based on specific customer requests. Our new Resource Center is available for the participants use for graphics and research for customization. These drums are not only useful but can be a unique art form as well.

Business, labor, computer and marketing skills along with creativity, commitment and passion are benefits of this project that will serve the participants for their whole lives.

Let your imagination run wild when you order a customized drum from our Youth Entrepreneurial Project. Participants will do the research and a printout design for application. Drum prep is a painstaking process ensuring there are no flaws or imperfections in the paint to make certain your drum is

exactly what you desire.

The Learning Wall provides the participants with a safe, stable area to learn tool use, carpentry and general repair skills while enhancing math skills. These skills will serve the participants well now and in the future.

Under direction of the project coordinator, participants work to make the 4th floor space their own. Painting and repairs help to make a cheerful work and learning environment.

Attractive canisters with the WYSS logo have been placed at area locations; donations are used for operating supplies. The canister coordinator and assistant count and ready donations for deposit. The participants are responsible for all facets of the business with the guidance of the project coordinator.
