During this Christmas season,

May you be blessed

With the spirit of the season,

which is peace,

The gladness of the season,

which is hope,

And the heart of the season,

which is love

Somehow, not only for Christmas

But all the long year through,

The joy that you give to others

Is the joy that comes back to you.

And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,

The more of your heart's possessing

Returns to you glad.

John Greenleaf Whittier

THE PERFECT PROM PROJECT BOUTIQUE 07

Our 4th annual Perfect Prom Project was a great success!! Thanks to the donations of local Bridal Stores and other private donations, over 30 girls are going to their proms looking like a princess this year. A boutique like atmosphere was set up with mirrors and dressing rooms where the girls had the opportunity to “shop”. Each girl was assigned a “Personnel Shopping Assistant” to help them find the perfect gown. Punch and snacks were served while they waited for on the spot alterations done by volunteers. Make-up demonstrations were given and each girl received a pair of beautiful earrings and a certificate for flowers to complement their gowns. All gowns and services were free of charge. Ibm and united way visit new resource center

IBM and the United Way of Greater Waterbury spent the afternoon visiting the new Resource Center. The Resource Center is a state of the art 16 workstation computer lab. Youth from our Entrepreneurial Project (better known as E project) explained some of the exciting projects they are busy working on in the lab. Designing a logo, creating flyers and brochures to showcase their new business and learning how to track profits in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets are just a few. They have been using the internet to research business practices which will help them to run a successful business. Access to the internet through the Resource Center has been a invaluable tool that will contribute to our participants success now and in the future.
