Our new Resource Center is open

The month of January was an exciting time for our Agency. Through the United Way we applied for an IBM Corporation 2006 Technology Donation Program grant. IBM is seeking to improve information management and computer access and training for the disadvantaged through this program. We applied for and received 13 desktops and 3 laptops. The Center, the 16-work station computer lab, is in a secured room and will be open initially from 1:00-6:00 Monday through Friday. Supervised by the program coordinator, the Center will be available for tutoring and will provide educational tools for all ages. Trainings for computer literacy, employment skills and PowerPoint presentations will be available at designated times. Advancements in technology are ongoing and access to this information will benefit our program participants now and in the future.

The Center will have Internet access as well. The ability to exchange information and resources in an efficient and secure manner is an essential tool in this age. The ultimate goal of the Agency is to realize the full potential of the Resource Center by opening it up to the whole community. To see pictures of our new Resource Center... click here...

GO RED FOR WOMEN 2007

For the fourth year the staff at Waterbury Youth Services joined with more than 5,000 other companies to show their support for the Go Red For Women movement. Conducting our fundraising event on February 15th, employees paid $5 to wear red and show their support for the ongoing research and education about women and heart disease. All proceeds from this event go to the American Heart Association.
