On November 11th, as a special project the Positive Youth Development program did a unique “Business Initiative”. The group of girls and boys, advised by program facilitators, participated in this unique project. They developed a business, S&L (soaps and lotions), created their own fragrances, and incorporated them into the product. Priced for sale, the products were advertised by flyers posted at the Agency.

Sale day arrived with participants staffing the booths, attending the register and gift- wrapping the purchases. The intriguing fragrance combinations with the addition of dried flowers added to the appeal of the product and the great sales staff made for a very pleasant shopping experience. Profits from this very successful sale were $65.00, which will be used for the next venture. Through this project the group learned business skills from concept development to sales and their math and public speaking skills were improved while having fun.
