TERRIANN ABARZUA

The annual Jaci Carroll Visionary Award for 2007 was given to Terriann Abarzua. Terri, a long time resident of Prospect,   lives there with her husband & their two sons. Terri has been a Connecticut State Trooper for 18 years and has had many assignments, a Major Crime Unit Detective for 8 years, a Background Investigations Unit as a Detective for 2 years & a patrol trooper at Troop I in Bethany. Currently, she is a Detective in the State Police Accreditation Unit in Meriden, assigned there since 9/06

Terri is most proud of the volunteer work she was able to do while at Troop I. For many years, she coordinated the "Stuff a Cruiser" for Troop I at the area Wal-Mart. Troopers collect over 3,000 toys & 2,000 pieces of clothing as well as other personal items each year. The items collected go to the state police towns of Prospect, Bethany & Beacon Falls as well as Waterbury Youth Services & several other Waterbury area shelters & youth groups. Terri currently serves as Vice-Chairman of District Animal Control & Vice-President of Tri Valley Pop Warner Football. Terri is an outstanding example of a caring person & the long-lasting difference they can make in our community. Congratulations Terri!!
